On May 4th, Fudan University Professors Quanshui Wu and Meng Chen, upon the invitation of Professor Shixin Zhu and Dean Li Zhang, delivered two excellent teaching presentations for the frontline teachers of the School of Mathematics.

Professor Quanshui Wu's presentation focused on reflections and suggestions for the development of first-class undergraduate programs. Starting from the concepts of first-class undergraduate courses, first-class undergraduate majors, and first-class undergraduate education, Professor Wu provided detailed analyses and explanations from multiple angles, including the background of the "first-class" concept, the basic conditions for development areas, the selection criteria for key areas of development, and the formulation of evaluation standards. Furthermore, he offered a multifaceted set of recommendations and considerations for addressing the uncertainties and challenges that educators might encounter during the process of developing first-class undergraduate courses and majors, topics of current concern.

Professor Meng Chen's presentation was on the reconstruction and practice of an undergraduate mathematics curriculum system oriented toward the forefront of the discipline. Professor Chen discussed the problems and challenges faced by traditional classroom systems, course content, and teaching methods. He talked about how Fudan University's Mathematics Department has constructed a "three-tier progressive" curriculum system, which includes mandatory courses, restricted mandatory courses, and advanced courses, to achieve a three-tier, four-series, and twenty-advanced upgrade curriculum system. Furthermore, he summarized the teaching reform and effectiveness of Fudan University's courses "Advanced Algebra" and "Mathematical Modeling," setting an example for the development of mathematics courses at other universities.

The attending teachers engaged in in-depth discussions with the two professors on topics such as the development of online first-class courses, online and offline blended first-class courses, and the establishment of four major series of honor courses oriented towards the forefront of the discipline.

In conclusion, Professor Shixin Zhu, on behalf of the School of Mathematics at Hefei University of Technology, expressed gratitude for the excellent presentations by the two professors. He also conveyed earnest expectations to the teachers in the School of Mathematics, urging them to maintain a balance between research and teaching, excelling in both aspects.
